He earned his medical degree from Universite Catholique De Louvain, Faculte De Medecine in 1978 and completed an internship at St John Hospital in 1979. Following medical school, he undertook residency training in Internal Medicine at St John Hospital, graduating in 1981. He then pursued fellowship training in Diabetes and Endocrinology at Joslin Diab Center, graduating in 1982, further specializing in the comprehensive medical care of his patient population. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and a member of several esteemed medical organizations. He is fluent in French and also offers consultations in Hebrew. Dr. Shapse is committed to collaborative, evidence-based medicine, creating a supportive environment where patients and their families feel heard and empowered in their healthcare decisions. While Dr. Shapse no longer makes hospital rounds, he continues to be affiliated with the Medical Staffs of both Bethesda Memorial Hospital and Delray Medical Center.
