With over 15 years of dedicated experience in dental care, Dr. Dea brings a wealth of clinical knowledge and compassionate care to his patients and their families. He earned his medical degree from Nova Southeastern University in 2008. A little bit about myself, I was born in San Francisco but have called South Florida home for over 25 years. I grew up in Pompano Beach, attended Pope John Paul II High School in Boca, University of Florida for my Bachelor's, FAU for my Master's, and Nova Southeastern University for my Dental Degree. After dental school, I worked in Eustis, FL for 2 years. Then moved back to West Palm Beach and worked for a "corporate" practice for another 2 years. Finally, I started my practice here in Boynton Beach in the summer of 2010. Thanks to the kind words of others we have grown steadily from one assistant to a team of seven. The majority of our new patients are referrals. Come meet us and you will see why. Thank you for considering us to be your dental home. Or if you are already part of the family, I hope we continually exceed your expectations. We take great pride in providing you with the care you deserve. I remind myself and my team here at Dea Family Dentistry that we do not simply treat teeth but rather the person to whom those teeth belong. We are all unique and individuals. You should be treated as such and the only way to accomplish that is by getting to know you. We offer comprehensive exams that will include an oral cancer screening, personalized x-rays (more on this subject when you come in), and a tour of your mouth with our intraoral and infrared cameras. We will address your concerns, if any, and tell you what we plan on doing and why. Dr. Victor Dea is fluent in Mandarin and also offers consultations in Spanish.

Effective management of health is key to well-being in later life. Dr. Victor Dea provides expert, compassionate care for a range of conditions common in older adults, with a focus on managing symptoms and maintaining function. Common areas of focus include:
- Broken Tooth: A chipped or fractured tooth can affect your confidence and eating habits; however, a dentist can effectively repair the damage, restoring both your smile and your ability to eat comfortably.
- Cavity: A cavity is a small hole in a tooth due to decay; quick treatment with a filling or other restoration by your dentist will safeguard your oral health and help you maintain a comfortable, confident smile.
- Chipped Tooth: Don't let a chipped tooth cause you pain or affect your ability to eat; a simple dental visit can often fix it with a filling, veneer, or crown, improving your quality of life.
- Dental Disorders: Many dental problems, such as cavities or gum disease, can be easily treated with prompt care, preserving your teeth and preventing more serious conditions that could impact your daily life.
- Gingivitis: Gingivitis, a common gum problem, causes redness, swelling, and sometimes bleeding in your gums; regular dental checkups and good oral hygiene can prevent it from worsening.
- Gum Disease: Gum disease, or periodontal disease, is an infection of the gums that can damage the soft tissues and bones supporting your teeth, but with regular dental checkups and good oral hygiene, it can often be managed effectively.
- Loose Teeth: Loose teeth can make eating and speaking difficult, but your dentist can help stabilize them or replace them with comfortable, secure options to maintain your independence.
- Misaligned Teeth: Over time, teeth can shift, causing discomfort and affecting your bite. Your dentist can assess the misalignment and recommend treatment options to restore proper chewing and improve your smile.
- Tooth Abscess: A tooth abscess is a painful infection that can affect your ability to eat and sleep comfortably; timely treatment from your dentist will greatly improve your quality of life.
- Tooth Damage: Whether it's a small chip or a significant fracture, your dentist can assess the damage and create a personalized treatment plan to restore your teeth's function and appearance.
- Tooth Decay: Cavities are a common dental issue that can affect anyone at any age, including seniors, however, early detection through regular dental visits allows for timely treatment, preventing more extensive damage and avoiding painful procedures later.
- Toothache: That nagging toothache can make eating and sleeping difficult. Your dentist can diagnose the problem, such as a cracked tooth or abscess, and offer solutions to restore your oral health and overall well-being.
This list highlights some common health concerns and is for informational purposes. An accurate diagnosis and a personalized care plan can only be developed through a direct consultation with a qualified medical professional based on your specific health history.

Here are answers to some common questions about Dental care with Dr. Victor Dea:
- How is dental health connected to my overall health, like my heart?
- Dr. Dea's practice emphasizes the critical link between oral and systemic health. Bacteria from chronic gum disease can enter the bloodstream and have been linked to an increased risk for heart disease, stroke, and poorly controlled diabetes. Regular dental care is essential for maintaining overall health and wellness, not just healthy teeth.
- My medications make my mouth constantly dry. Is this a dental problem?
- Yes, dry mouth (xerostomia) is a very common side effect of many medications, and it's a dental problem. Saliva is the body's natural defense against cavities, so a dry mouth significantly increases the risk of tooth decay and gum disease. Dr. Dea can recommend special rinses, gels, and other strategies to manage dry mouth and protect your teeth.
- Is it normal for my gums to bleed when I brush or floss?
- No, healthy gums should not bleed. Bleeding is often the first sign of gum inflammation (gingivitis), which can progress to more serious periodontitis if left untreated. This is often reversible with a professional cleaning and improved daily oral hygiene, and Dr. Dea can help create an effective and gentle home care routine.
- What is the difference between a bridge and a partial denture?
- A dental bridge is a fixed, permanent replacement for missing teeth, while a partial denture is a removable appliance that clips onto existing teeth. A bridge is cemented to the teeth on either side of the gap, filling the space with a false tooth. A partial denture is a removable appliance that replaces one or more missing teeth.
- Why are my teeth becoming more sensitive as I get older?
- Tooth sensitivity in older adults is often due to receding gums, exposing the tooth root. Years of brushing can also wear down enamel, making teeth more vulnerable. Dr. Dea can recommend desensitizing toothpastes, fluoride treatments, or check for other issues that may be contributing to the sensitivity.
- How should I be cleaning my dentures properly?
- To keep your dentures clean and healthy, remove and rinse them after eating. Use a soft denture brush and non-abrasive denture cleaner to clean all surfaces daily. Also, gently brush your gums, tongue, and roof of your mouth, and soak your dentures overnight in a denture solution or water.
- What is involved in an oral cancer screening?
- An oral cancer screening is a quick, painless, but vital part of every routine dental exam. Dr. Dea will visually inspect your mouth and throat for any unusual sores or discolorations, and gently feel your jaw and neck for lumps. Early detection is key to successful treatment.
- My dentures don't fit as well as they used to. What can be done?
- Dr. Dea's practice understands that changes in jawbone and gum tissue over time can cause dentures to loosen. A relining procedure can often reshape the denture for a better fit, or a new denture might be necessary if the current one is significantly worn. A proper fit is crucial for comfortable eating and speaking.
